Victoria Uttley, centre manager of St John’s Centre in Leeds city centre, received the 2004 SCEPTRE Town-Centre Shopping Centre Manager of the Year Award from Glenn Macfarlane, chief executive officer of sponsor Photo-Me.
The St John’s Centre is a real Victoria Uttley fan club – the centre management team, support staff, retailers and customer all hold her in extremely high regard. “The world would be a better place if every business had a manager like mine: good, honest and genuine, who does everything from the heart with so much pride,” wrote a team member.
Among Uttley’s achievements were a service charge reduction of 11.19 per cent and a major impact on the investment value of the centre through commercialisation – mall income rose from £66,000 in 2000 to £175,000 last year.
